Subtle Body
Subtle Body
Composited Still from 3-Channel Installation
2014

In Subtle Body notions of a non-physical body are constant; human-like figures appear and transform cyclically, personifying the ghostly and the magical.

Subtle Body is an exploration into what the physical self belies. A term representing all parts of a being but their physical self in early esoteric occult philosophies, subtle body refers both simply to the vague appearance of a human form and all constituent elements of a body that have existed before it's life and after it's death.

In the installation, the ephemeral presence of video projection conjures figures into space and allows them disappear as quickly, permitting only moments of connection. Loss, fragmentation and repetitive time are all represented as reality as these figures take shape as the emanation of a human presence.
